Methodology and data source

Estimated Emission from Electricity Production Process

The Estimated Emission from electricity production process represents the emission created from combusting natural gas in the electricity generation process as well as purchase of electricity from the grid.

It is calculated using 4 key inputs each month:

  • Natural gas compositions from PTT (monthly average)
  • The total consumption amount of natural gas (tonne and mmscf)
  • The amount of electricity Bangkok Cogen received from the grid
  • The total electricity and steam produced and sold to customers

The Estimated Emission from Production Process is expressed in kgCO2e/kWh.

Estimated Emission from Raw Material Acquisition

The estimated emission from Raw Material Acquisition is the GHG emissions produced in extracting and transportation of the natural gas to Bangkok Cogen site.

This number is published and updated by Thailand Greenhouse Gas Organization (TGO).

The Estimated Emission from Raw Material Acquisition is expressed in kgCO2e/kWh.

Electricity CFP

Combining Estimated Emissions from Production Process and the Raw material Acquisition gives the Estimated Product Carbon Footprint for electricity.

This is the Emission Factor (EF) of the electricity produced by Bangkok Cogen and is expressed in kgCO2e/kWh.
